SEAL is a diesel powered marine air drop rescue vehicle with way point processing. Inflated, it measures 6 ft (h) x 13.75 ft x 5 ft (beam) and deflated it stows in a 30 in. diameter Cod Pod. It was the progenitor to SARPAL.

The mission of the Seal Retriever Autonomous Marine Vehicle (AMV) is to engage in the rescue and support of persons in distress who are floating on the surface of a body of water. This entails deployment and operation in rough seas and hazardous environments which could prove dangerous or lethal to humans using conventional rescue methodologies.

The Seal vehicle is intended to be compatible with a host of other complementary vehicles which comprise a family of products known as the "Airborne Rapid Deployment Equipment System" (ARDES) which address Toxic Spill Response (ARDTSR), Emergency Response (ARDER), Ocean Sensing (ARDOS), Military AMV Response (ARDMAR), and Ocean Fisheries (ARDOF).

These equipment systems will primarily be air deployed. The Seal AMV can also be deployed from surface ships or fixed platforms (oil rigs, life guard stations, etc.) and will also have a reasonable degree of autonomy which will enable it to accomplish its mission programming in low visibility environments.

The Seal prototype vehicle is configured to fit inside a 30" diameter "cod pod". In it's final configuration the Seal will be deployed by dropping it from a fixed or rotor wing aircraft. On deployment, the Seal will release a parachute to slow it's descent. On descent, the seal inflatable hull will be inflated from compressed gas bottles. Hinged sections of the rigid fiberglass hull fold out on either side to provide a rigid deck structure.
